Motorcycling trip with your buddies

Motorcycling trip with your buddies

A few years back we went on an impromptu biking trip in Goa. We were looking at Mumbai to Goa flights and came across a suggested itinerary for biking, and it stick in some of our heads as a possible activity in Goa. And we finally did end up doing that! This post is about what I earned from this biking trip, hope you like it.

So here we go!

What shall you need to have a motorcycling trip with your buddies? Nothing more than the buddies and the bikes, right? Well, not exactly. Just like anything else, you may require a proper plan before rushing toward a motorcycling trip to ensure maximum fun and adventure.

The plan should focus on various aspects but most importantly safety and timing. Take a paper and jot down some must ask questions: Where are you heading? Which ride are you taking? What are you wearing? What other stuff you might be carrying? How many folks are you accompanied by? How much time do you have?

Alright, that is enough to have certainty. You may have already learnt why these questions matter and what impacts can the plan have on your trip.

To make you have a crystal clear vision, I have got numerous suggestions. So here are the top 6 tips to remember:

  1. Dress like a Rider

You got some shorts, T-shirts or pants? Just keep them aside be you won’t these. A rider always looks like a professional one, though it has not to be the part of your trip but how about your safety? To ensure maximum protection you need to have a helmet on your head at first. Put on goggles as it may help you against the striking rays of Sun at daytime while prevents the wind from affecting your eyes in the evening. If you love to wear T-shirts even then you are suggested to have a coat or any kind of jacket which could cover you well. Elbow pads can also add up in the protection. You are also supposed to wear gloves in your hands, as it may increase your fists’ grip and cover your hands completely. You don’t need to be worried about your looks as you have the right to wear jeans along with a pair of kneepads.

After this you can find yourself under complete protection against any possible event of road accident, street rash other such injuries.

  1. Ride Safely

Know that it does not matter what bikes do your group mates have, you are not supposed to have a bike which could match theirs unless you are comfortable with it. Here your comfort includes several things: make sure that your feet touch the ground when situated (not the toes only) and if not then you may need a smaller one. Ensure that you are absolutely capable of getting on and off the ride when needed. See if it is taking more efforts to handle the bike, reach the breaks or in other words have control over it. Moreover, you must ride at a speed which makes you feel safe and comfortable. Just don’t feel compelled to ride the way your group mates do.

  1. Check your ride

Having a perfect trip will require an advance preparation too, and that means you need to check your ride deeply before moving on. Make a check list if necessary. Look for the mirrors, are they providing a clear vision? Are the lights working? How are the tires looking, though they look clean but how about the weight gas? Fill as per the need.

Since you are suggested have a deep check, don’t just overlook – go for the chains and suspension as well. Have a sight on oil’s color, if it seems darker, you may change the oil instantly. Try pulling the clutch and brakes to find the flexibility. Having a perfectly fit ride prepares you for the perfect journey.

  1. Look around you

Using front mirrors can be helpful but completely relying on them can be dangerous while riding. You need to use your mind, head and eyes of course. Being a responsible rider, you should know who is around you, how much close and how much far. Turn your head to the left, to the right and even behind, before you change the lanes.

As suggested by the experts, keeping a check on your surroundings is essential while riding and especially when you are in the center of crowd or have a group of folks with you.

  1. Have an eye on the road

While you may remain concerned about your safety, you should have an eye on the road. Look for the coming bends, blockages, rocks or any such barriers. Do not cross rail tracks is haste. Follow the traffic rules and the signs.

  1. The day of journey

At last you need to be careful about the day you go for the trip. You must have the weather’s idea for the entire route you may have marked. Would you like to ride on the slippery roads, covered with mud due to slight or even heavy rain? Or you would rather want to plan your journey for a sunny day. To avoid weather related challenges you already have some weather forecast reports.

At last, you just need to follow the tips before you head on to your trip. Gather your friends, pack your bag and wait for the right day. Well, you are just ALL SET for the journey, how about tomorrow if it isn’t going to rain there?

Don’t forget to give your feedback is I would love to hear from you. Did I miss any important tip for your trip, please don’t hesitate to mention. Let me know if you have some more tips, and if you’d like to try biking, book your flights to Goa, or to Leh soon.

Best wishes for your safe and sound journey.
