London has to be a city that everyone dreams of traveling to once in their lifetime. London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom, is a 21st-century city and has a rich history that goes back up to the Roman times. From the iconic Houses of Parliament that stands proud at the center of the London city to the famous Big Ben, London is beautiful and majestic a spell bounding way.
Every season has it’s own charm in London, but I am told that London transforms into a Winter Wonderland around Christmas and New Year, and considering it is December now, I am dreaming about a winter trip to London with my Daughter and husband. We haven’t taken a family vacation in almost a year now and London will be the perfect destination to bring in the New Year with fun and festivities.
This is also possibly the best time to plan a trip to London because it is so much cheaper post the exchange rate gains (1 GBP = INR 100 earlier this year and now 1 GBP = INR 82) .
Although I have a long list of things to do in London, here are my top five.
Five Things To Do In London During Your London Trip:
1. Sightseeing in London. From the Big Ben to witnessing the Christmas and New Year’s Eve fireworks at the London Eye at river Thames, there is just so much to do in London. Being a Harry Potter fangirl, I particularly want to go behind the scenes of the Harry Potter movies and see the iconic Christmas sets of with Hogwarts in the Snow. What a magical sight it is!
2. Shopping in London. You already know how I love to shop at various cities in the world, but London is probably one of most fun shopping destination. I want to hunt for some good deals on fashion, electronics and accessories during the Boxing Day and January sales in London, which kick off as soon as Christmas is over.
3. Witnessing the Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace. This process has become some sort of a tourist attraction and it encompasses colourful spectacle and British pageantry. It is a 45 minute long ceremony and it scheduled daily at 11:30 from April until the end of July and on alternate days for the rest of the year, weather permitting.
There is so much more to be done on a London trip, like visiting the British Museum, seeing the City Hall and Royal Mews and driving a little to see the Stonehenge. A London trip in winters, to ring in the new years is nothing short of magical.
Bringing in the New Year in London has its own charm. And if you’re planning the same London Winter dream trip like me, you might want to check British Airways because what better way to fly from India to London than to try the airline that is known for its top end services and the largest airline in the United Kingdom based on fleet size.
I can’t wait to spend a Christmas and New Year in London. What about you?
