Yelagiri about 230 km from Chennai is one of the British summer retreats replete with green hills, rose-gardens, lakes, valleys, fruit-laden orchards and trekker-friendly trails. Put on your walking boots and explore the sheer magnificence of Nature! In summer around the end of May enjoy the summer festival here. Take a peek at the nearby Punganoor lake, Swami Malai hills, and the Jalagamparai Waterfalls.

Yercaud at 1515m above MSL is home to an enviable collection of flora and fauna. Yercaud Lake, Lady’s seat Pagoda Point, National Orchidarium, Bear’s cave and just the very beautiful serene and sylvan surroundings are worth exploring in this once-British-summer-retreat.

Horsely Hills about 279 km from Chennai and in the Eastern Ghats was also a British summer retreat and is the Governor of Andhra Pradesh’s summer retreat presently. Drop in to get away from the summer or on your return from Tirupathi.

Kolli Hills is 1300m above MSL. Unspoiled tea and coffee estates, paddy fields, jack-fruit trees and rejuvenating lush green surroundings make for a wonderful weekend getaway with your loved ones.

Kodaikanal is 2133m above MSL and 527 km from Chennai. Pear, Acacia, Cypress and Eucalyptus trees and a temperature that never feels warm welcome tourists all year round.

Ooty at 2,240m above MSL and developed by the British for summer vacations is where you can beat the heat and get away to all year round from Bangalore or Chennai. Try the world’s slowest Nilgiri Mountain Railway, and visit the Government Botanical Gardens, Ooty Lake, Rose Garden, and a host of beautiful scenic spots hidden away by Nature.

Connor located in the Nilgiri Hills is a famous spot for bikers and trekkers alike. Its elevation of 1850m above MSL provides for some memorable photographs. Many viewing points like Dolphin’s Nose, Door Fort, Lamb’s Rock and Katary Falls are worth clubbing in your travel plan.

Madikeri in the Sahayadri Mountains and an elevation of 1061m above MSL is another must visit hill station with many attractive places like Raja’s seat and the Rose Garden, overwhelms you with the quaint ambiance and traditions that are prevalent here.

Munnar is famous for the confluence of three rivers and its coffee estates. Located in the Nilgiri Mountains the un-spoilt habitat of many native species of flora and fauna welcomes with open arms tourists all year round.
