As some of you might know, I’ve been living in Dehradun, the capital city of Uttrakhand in India, for a few years now. The city is situated at the foot hills of Garhwal Himalayas, a wonderful location in the I absolutely love the city for its great weather and great people. Seriously great people! Garhwalis are warm people with big hearts, and I’ve often witnessed their generosity first hand.
And it helps that Dehradun is just a stone throw away from Delhi! It takes less than 40 minutes to get from Delhi to Dehradun if you take a flight. And it’s a 5 to 6 hours journey by train, lesser if you drive.
And the food culture in Dehradun is unique. The bakeries here have been around for decades, and their products are famous all across India – from the Stick Jaws butter toffee from Ellora’s to the Rusks from Standard bakery, they are loved by loyal foodies all over the country.

There are many great restaurants in Dehradun as well, and a lot of street food options that will make you smack your lips and ask for more. However, this post is written to answer a question I have been asked a lot of times –
What are the best cafes in Dehradun?
You will have to see my Google Maps’ List for the answer to that question, my friends. It will give you not only the names, but also the directions to these cafes.

Recently, I learnt about the Lists feature on Google Maps, and it is a damn good way to share my lists with the world. (You know how much I love lists, right? Right.)
I love sharing my lists about places I have been to, about things to do and about all things travel and food. And recently Google Maps launched Lists, a new feature that can be very handy in marking out the places we love and wish to share with friends.
It is easy to create your own lists of places, share them with others, and follow the lists of your friends and family when shared with you – without ever leaving Google Maps on Android or iOS. Pretty neat, right? And it’s very quick.
How to make a List on Google Maps?
It’s very easy, actually. Go to Google Maps on your Android or iOS device, and follow one of these two methods:
• Open the place you want to add to a new list, tap on “Save”, and then select “create a new list”
• Open the side menu, go to Your Places, open Saved, and then click on the plus sign in the blue circle at the bottom right corner of the screen

Easy breezy! This way, you can make a various lists – from your top 5 favorite bakeries in your city, to your dream weekend getaway destinations. And you can share these lists easily with people.
When someone shares a Google maps’ list with you, you can follow it so that the recommendations are only a tap away in your Google Maps app. Moreover, you can view and edit your lists offline and if you have offline maps downloaded, places added to the lists will appear on your offline map.
So, I’ve decided to share my list of top 5 cafes in Dehradun that you definitely must go to via Google Maps’ Lists. Here you go:
Have fun, enjoy the coffee and the snacks! Remember to share your Google Map’s Lists with me as well. Until the next post, cheers!
