Situated at the foothills of the mighty Shivaliks, Chandigarh’s name has its roots in the Hindu deity of power – ‘Chandi Devi’. Planned and executed under the supervision of American and French architects, the city boasts of a grid layout with each unit serving as a sector. Wide six-lane roads with narrow pedestrian lanes connect each of these sectors, while the streets within the sectors only allow slower traffic.
