So, my second book is out in the market for almost a month now and I still can’t believe I wrote not one, but two books. It feels like a dream. Or a nightmare, depending on how I imagine the sales to be like. Because let’s face it, it is all about sales these days. But I digress. I am ecstatic that Love, Whatever That Means is sitting proudly on book shelves around the country, and is displayed on all online book stores – a few reviews have come in already and it is still all very surreal.
Maybe that’s the reason I haven’t updated about Love, Whatever That Means here – it doesn’t even seem real so far!
But yes, I managed to finish another book – mainly because of the readers who kept me motivated and sent me all their love and support through the process. Writing an article with a kid is tough enough for me, let alone an entire book. Which is why it took me a year to write the first draft. And then the edits took a lot of time too. My first book, ‘Soldier & Spice: An Army Wife’s Life‘ was released in 2013. And I took three years to come out with the next one.
But I hope that the wait has been worth it for my darling readers. Thank you for keeping the faith.
About ‘Love, Whatever That Means‘ – it is a funny, and at times, hilarious, story of Tina and Virat. Tina is a normal girl who works for a TV News Channel. And when I say ‘normal’, yes, I mean ‘Civilian’. What can I say, civilian is still the normal state of being for me, even after six years of the Army Wife life. Let them Etiquette Classes begin, I say! (You’ll know what I mean if you’re a part of the Army or if you’re read Soldier & Spice)
So this is the story of Tina who is trying to do her best at a demanding and not-as-glamorous-as-it-sounds job at the news channel and a lot of things are happening. Then she meets Virat, an Army Officer who sweeps her off her feet. He is the quintessential Dream Man, right next to Mr.Darcy, for all girls out there who love a man in uniform. He is kind, warm, funny, intense, sure of himself, and did I mention hot? Yes, very hot. And Tina find herself falling for him.
But when is love, or whatever this is, easy? Several things are in the way of a ‘regular’ romance. He is remotely located, she can’t understand Satellite Phones. He is a man of few words, she wants constant reassurance. He is old-fashioned, she is confused. He is in the Army, she is scared of the What Ifs. The list goes on.
What happens in the end? Well, I could tell you but then I’d have to tell you. Ha! (get it? get it?) It will be way less fun that reading it straight from the book. So hurry, and buy a copy today.
And a heartfelt thank you for all you lovely readers and friends who have already read the book and have loved it. I have to warn you that there are a few typos in the book, despite my neurotic over-editing – and I apologise in advance for them. I don’t know how they got there because the final draft I sent had none of the missing quote marks or random caps on between sentences. But I hope the story will keep you involved enough to ignore the typos for me. Hugs in turn!
And can we take a moment to talk about the amazing cover? I mean, how good is it anyway? I know, I know I’m saying it myself, but hey, I LOVE this cover a lot. The girl kinda looks like me, don’t you think? A thinner, much more glamorous version of me, but still me. Wow.
Love, Whatever That Means will warm your hearts, and will make you laugh out loud. This is a book about the romance of a civilian girl and an Army man, and will make you root for the couple even when things look bleak, or Tina sounds like a fool (because she does, at times).
