|Wine & Dine: My Two Favourites at the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival|
Autumn is probably the best time to plan a trip to Hong Kong, and I did just that. I planned my recent Hong Kong Travel in Oct end and it was simply magical. Apart from the pleasant days and cool nights, and the unlimited fun that Hong Kong is known for – it was made extra special because the famous Wine & Dine Festival was coinciding with my Hong Kong travel.
Every year in autumn, Hong Kong Tourism Board organizes the grand, very festive and carnival-ish Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival. While the big event lasts for 4 days, it is just to kick start one full months of indulgence with epicurean events from around the globe to set your tongue tingling.
Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival Was A Once In A Lifetime Experience.
I found out about this festival from Twitter, just a day before I was supposed to land in Hong Kong, and I was intrigued. Then, I met a group of people travelling from India to Hong Kong especially for this festivals and I immediately put it on my list of Things To Do in Hong Kong. I am so glad that I planned my Hong Kong Trip around the CCB (Asia) Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival – I had a great time and I have pictures to prove it. Like this one:
The Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival is held at Central Harbour Front, against the stunning backdrop of Victoria Harbour, and is buzzing with excitement. We took the Star Ferry from Harbour City and then walked to the venue, crossing the beautiful Hong Kong Eye. Right from the moment we got our tickets (and glasses), it was a joy ride.
Hong Kong is celebrating the 2015 Wine & Dine Month from 22 October to 30 November and the event kicked off with a 4 day event from 22nd to 25th October.
I went to the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival with family and friends on the last day to witness the fun, to have a good time, and primarily to taste all the wine and booze possible. ha ha just kidding. Not really. A trip to Ladies Market Hong Kong a day before this, and going to LKF the first night in Hong Kong trip pretty much set the tone for my entire trip, but who’s complaining!
And boy, what an experience it was!

We walked around the entire area covered by the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival – twice, tasting everything that caught our fancy, including heavenly wines and yummy food. We then stood in a long line for plates of outstanding lamb chops – I had to ask them to make mine well done and not rare, and it was deliciousness. Clearly, it was not only about wines at this festival, there were beers from all over the world, also some fine Whiskey and a large variety of food. In fact, there were more than 350 culinary booths this year at the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival.
The French and Italian Wine booths were very busy, as one can predict, but we I sensed a lot of enthusiasm for new wines as well. We stopped at the Argentina Wine booth for a tasting and we also tried Chile. The boys at one particularly busy Wine booth were singing and performing a little fun dance from time to time, to attract customer and the whole routine was adorable.

And the sheer collection of Wines at Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival was stunning! From Bordeaux’s most famous Chateaux including first growths Mouton and Lafite as well as La Fleur Petrus, Pontet Canet and others, to Italy’s legendary Bruno Giacosa and Sassicaia, all the way to Chile’s Seña and Napa Valley’s Dana and Peter Michael, you name the kind of wine and it was there, ready to be tasted in pretty wine goblets or to be bought in beautiful bottles (gave me some serious DIY With Bottles ideas, honestly.)
After we got our lamb chops and another 2 bottles of good wine – We were lucky to get a good spot near the stage, where we settled down eating, sipping and listening to the amazing live music and performances on the stage. It is safe to say that Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival was unadulterated fun.

This year the CCB (Asia) Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival welcomed around 150,000 people from around the world just on it’s first day. In total, around 144,000 people came to the 2015 event to sample the great wines and culinary offerings from 23 countries, and I was one of them.
